Merciless is still harder against bosses or enemies who you don’t have or know their weakness.
Also because of the high damage you can be killed quite easily also.
Merciless was stream lined so you don’t have to grind as much, but it’s still the harder experience..
Is it worth getting Persona 5 Royal if you have Persona 5?
If you loved the game the first time around, Persona 5 Royal is almost certainly worth the full sticker price. If you’ve never played P5, this is definitely the version to get.

Yes it’s damn easier. SP management was the core of dungeon’s difficulty: now you can buy plenty of SP items after the first Palace. For example, I got to the December palace, and one of the lowest level personas you fine there are Cerberuses. In P5, Cerberus was 4-5 levels above me.

Royal will be the same exact story PLUS the extra stuff with kasumi and the councilor. So essentially, if you ignore those two completely you’ll still get to experience the first game. Even finish it before going to the added story points.

You have to much advantage in this game. It does seem easier so far (halfway through Madarame’s palace) but I don’t mind it. I’m treating this as a sort of NG+ for the vanilla P5, since I never got around to doing NG+ in the original. I already went through the grind once, now I can enjoy the enhanced story.
